While I don’t post camera news, I really should. I could be like an aggregator of sorts, like how The Grid over at Road and Track gives you a roundup of the day’s most important stories in the automotive world.
Anyways, back to the topic on hand. I’m asking you, dear reader, to boycott Adorama over an article that they published which made it clear that they don’t care for the photography community at all.
Japan Camera Hunter reports that Adorama published an article by a photographer in which the main premise is to simply attack film users; not only does the article fail to make any kind of logical arguments, the author stole an image made by Ken Rockwell by taking it and removing Rockwell’s watermark – and when he was called on it, the author actually denied it!
Given the massive outcry, the company has since given this half baked apology, but they should have gone further and not only depublish the article, but make the author apologize for stealing content.
What I find silly about the whole thing is that Adorama still sells film – and last night they managed to ensure a lot of film photographers aren’t going to be buying from them anytime soon. Count me as one of those.
